Bio
Dr. Patricia B. Tissera is an astrophysicist
specializing in cosmology, galaxy formation, and the chemical evolution of
galaxies, with a particular focus on numerical models and simulations. She
currently serves as Full Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de
Chile. Dr. Tissera holds a Licenciatura and a PhD in Astronomy from the
Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. Her research has been
instrumental in advancing our understanding of the assembly and chemical
enrichment of galaxies, often utilizing high-performance computing (HPC) to
conduct complex simulations. She has played a pivotal role in developing and
managing HPC resources, which significantly enhanced computational
capabilities for astrophysical research., Dr. Tissera is deeply committed to
education and outreach, having supervised numerous PhD and MSc students and
engaged in initiatives aimed at promoting science in Chile and Argentina.
Her work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the
Charreau Prize, and has been featured in prominent media outlets such as
