class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Coastal lagoons are ecosystems with important environmental and socioeconomic value. However, these natural systems are particularly vulnerable to climatic and anthropogenic pressures, such as intensive agriculture and extensive urbanization as a consequence of tourism development. Despite the vulnerability and complexity of these ecosystems, the development of intelligent applications that can facilitate real-time monitoring, analysis and management of these critical resources has been limited. In addition to being useful for policy-making procedures at multiple levels of granularity, such tools can increase local and citizen awareness of environmental impacts. This talk will introduce the progress developed in the European project SMARTLAGOON, which aims to develop a digital twin to build a systemic understanding of the socio-environmental interrelationships affecting coastal lagoons and their ecosystem. Cecilia is a Ram\u00f3n y Cajal researcher in the Department of Computer and Systems Informatics at the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Valencia (UPV). He received the degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Murcia (Spain, 2005), the M.Sc. degree in Computational Techniques from Cranfield University (UK, 2007), and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Murcia (Spain, 2011). Dr. Cecilia has developed his research at the intersection between high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, developing different disruptive applications in the fields of bioinformatics, water resources management and planning, and agriculture. His research experience is supported by more than 100 articles in prestigious international journals and conferences.
